Celebrated Bharatanatyam dancer Malavika Sarukkai will be performing a single concert in Austin accompanied by a live orchestra. She is widely acclaimed for her creative and riveting dance choreography that transport the viewer to the inner emotions and heartbeat of dance. She is well known for connecting the art form to viewers in an intimate and spiritual way, leaving them spellbound. Her artistry has been recognized by several international awards, including the Padma Shree from the President of India, the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award and the Mrinalini Sarabhai Award for Excellence in Classical Dance. Her life and work was the subject of Samarpanam, a film commissioned by the Government of India.
