Austin once again welcomed Sarod maestro Pandit Tejendra Majumdar to the stage. One of the best known sarod players of our generation, he has long achieved that order of excellence and popular acceptability. He is arguably the best equipped musicians to carry on the great Senia Maihar mantle, Tejendra-ji combined the intellectual density and technical virtuosity of his gharana, with an extraordinary tone, touch and an ambient melody.
Pandit Mazumdar was masterfully accompanied on tabla by Pandit Karmakar Gourisankar, an Austin-based artist and director of the School of Indian Percussion and Music.
